After plastic design elements and cost elements have been considered, it's time to get the plastic molded. This step is done entirely on the part of production team. After all, Imtech Design is not a consulting or design firm solely, but also a trouble shooter and analyses technician. The steps of the molded plastics production process are carefully planned and adhere to industry certification standards. In addition, customers get the benefit of experienced plastics engineers working on their component part. The plastic is cooled and packaged after molding.

Plastic Fact Sheet One

Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE, TPR)

Properties: Flexible, clear, elastic, wear resistant and impermeable.

Applications: Soles and heels for sports shoes, hammerheads, seals, gaskets, skate board wheels, synthetic leather fabrics, and silent running gears.

Plastic Fact Sheet Two

Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA)

Properties: Flexible (rubbery), transparent, good low temperature flexibility (-70'C), good chemical resistance, high friction coefficient.

Applications: Teats, handle grips, flexible tubing, record turntable mats, beer tubing, vacuum, cleaner hosing.

Plastic Fact Sheet Three

Polycarbonate (PC)

Properties: Polycarbonates are strong, stiff, hard, tough, transparent engineering thermoplastics that can maintain rigidity up to 140oC and toughness down to -20°C or special grades even lower.

Applications: In recent years Polycarbonate blends have become increasingly commercially important. PC is widely used in blends due to its excellent compatibility with a range of polymers.

Typical Applications include: Electronic and business equipment (computer parts, connectors, etc.), appliances (food processors, refrigerator drawers, etc.), transportation (head lights, tail lights, instrument panels, etc.).

Imtech's Injection Moulding Problem Solving guide indicates typical methods for fine tuning the plastic injection moulding machine to reduce the occurrence of common molding problems including:- Parts stick in the mould, Flash, Poor Weld Lines, Burn marks, Short Shots, Pit Marks, Surface Ripples, Sink Marks, Voids, Splay Marks / De-lamination, Discoloration, Warpage / Distortion, Brittleness, Nozzle drool, Incomplete melting of pellets.
