Injection Molding Simulation. The production of injection molded parts is a complex process where, without the right combination of material, part and mold design and processing parameters, a multitude of manufacturing defects can occur, thus incurring high costs.

Computer aided engineering (CAE) tools are used to simulate the manufacture of plastic parts and the results help our engineers correct defects on the final design, before mould tool manufacture is completed.

Plastic Fact Sheet One

Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE, TPR)

Properties: Flexible, clear, elastic, wear resistant and impermeable.

Applications: Soles and heels for sports shoes, hammerheads, seals, gaskets, skate board wheels, synthetic leather fabrics, and silent running gears.

Plastic Fact Sheet Two

Aramids PI Aromatic Polyamide

Properties: Rigid, opaque, high strength, exceptional thermal and electrical properties (up to 480'C), resistant to ionising rediation, high cost.

Applications: Aerospace components, reinforcing fibres, high temperature resistance foams, chemical fibres and arc welding torches.

Plastic Fact Sheet Three

Polybutene-1 (PB-1)

Properties: PB-1 is obtained by polymerisation of butene-1, with a stereo-specific Ziegler-Natta catalyst to create a linear, high molecular, isotactic and semi-crystalline polymer.

Applications: A major application area for polybutene resins is seal-peel or easy-open packaging. Typical examples include carton liners (e.g. cereal packaging) and packs for pre-packed delicatessen products like cold meats, cheeses and smoked salmon.
